The intense fig flavor in this fig preserve or "Nettarina di Fichi" as it is called in Italian, comes from figs grown in the water-starved lands of Calabria. The result is concentrated fig flavor. Serve with prosciutto, hot coppacola, sheep and goat cheeses, and of course with parmigiano. Great with panna cotta (cooked cream), mascarpone, gorgonzola, and roasted pork loin.
