Amarena Cherry & Almond Tart

Indulge in a delightful dessert featuring the rich and luscious Amarena Cherries by Toschi. This Amarena Cherry & Almond Tart combines the tartness of the cherries with the nutty sweetness of almonds, making for an unforgettable treat. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons ice water (as needed)

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 jar of Amarena Cherries by Toschi, drained
  • Sliced almonds, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:

    • In a food processor, pulse the flour, powdered sugar, and salt until combined.
    • Add the cold butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Add the egg yolk and pulse to combine. If the dough is too dry, add ice water one tablespoon at a time until the dough comes together.
    • Press the dough into a tart pan, covering the bottom and sides. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Make the Filling:

    • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the almond extract.
    • Gradually mix in the almond flour and all-purpose flour until well combined.
    • Spread the almond filling evenly over the chilled crust.
  4. Add the Amarena Cherries:

    • Distribute the Amarena Cherries by Toschi evenly over the almond filling, pressing them slightly into the filling.
  5. Bake the Tart:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
    • If the crust starts to brown too quickly, cover the edges with aluminum foil.
  6. Garnish and Serve:

    • Let the tart cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, sprinkle with sliced almonds for an extra nutty crunch.
    • Serve slices of the tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for added indulgence.
